Please introduce yourself: What does your start-up do?
Navida Lemonade is a traditional refreshing drink made of lemon juice mixed with sparkling water and rose extract. The production of the rose extract includes a complex and delicate process of rose blossoms distillation. This process has a long tradition in the oriental culture.
How did you come up with an idea and concept? What inspired and motivated you to create this product?
My mother owns a restaurant where we offer traditional homemade lemonade. The lemonade with rose extract has always been our bestseller. Most of our guests tried to replicate it at home, but the taste was different, though our recipe is quite simple. They started asking whether they can buy this homemade lemonade in our restaurant. This is how we came up with an idea to distribute our bestselling lemonade in bottles.
What is unique about your business idea and operating model?
Our high-quality drinks taste homemade, as they contain no preservatives or binding additives. For this reason, we recommend to slowly turn the bottle at least three times before opening it.
What were the most significant difficulties you had to overcome while building your start-up?
The biggest challenge was to adjust the traditional recipe for industrial production. We aimed to achieve the taste of homemade lemonade which our guests enjoyed so much in the restaurant. The only difference is that bottled Navida Lemonade is a sparkling version of the classic drink.
Where do you see yourself and your company in 5 years?
Navida Drinks is going to be a brand that stands for the mix of traditional and modern.
What are your expectations from the NX-FOOD programme?
The NX-FOOD programme is a platform where you can get in touch with METRO customers and surprise them with new delicious products.
What are your main milestones and achievements?
– Launching Navida Drinks in retail, restaurants, and bars in Lörrach
– Production of first 8000 bottles
– Selling our products online on Food & Beverage platform
– Launch in Switzerland
– Getting a chance to present our products at NX-FOOD Start-up Shelf
