Please introduce yourselves: What does your startup do?

We are a small team from Hamburg, Germany, offering a broad variety of unique snacks at the place where you really crave a snack — in the office. All our snacks come in small pundits that are perfect for the little cravings after lunch and before dinner. The snacks are packed in little boxes to make sure you don't overeat.

As of 2019, we will be offering our products in a plastic-free PLA packaging.

How did you come up with an idea and concept? What inspired and motivated you to create this product?

There are four reasons why our BiteBox exists today:

  • unbridled curiosity
  • great passion for healthy and delicious snacks

What is unique about your business idea and operating model?

We work to make it easier for people to have a great variety of delicious and healthy snacks in the office. As we are primarily focused on corporate clients, we can satisfy a big variety of needs within this sector, including internal snack catering and branded complimentary gifts for clients and employees, as well as developing promotion and merchandise products.

What were the most significant difficulties you had to overcome while building your startup?

Managing the whole value chain from sourcing, production, fulfilment to sales & marketing with a small team is arguably the biggest challenge. At the early stage, resources are scarce and finding a way to make everything function properly is what makes working for BiteBox exciting and challenging at the same time.

Where do you see yourselves and your company in 5 years?

We want to be one of the leading suppliers for office and to-go snacks in Europe.

What are your expectations from the NX-Food Startup Shelf Program?

We are happy about the exposure the program can offer and are hoping that as many people as possible get to taste our snacks.

What are your main milestones and achievements?

From our point of view, there are several. One of the most significant is the cooperation with one of our first and most important corporate clients, Google, and the "Startup of the Year" award with a feature on the front page of German Handelsblatt.

We've also experienced a lot of funny milestones. For example, we sent out a marriage proposal with our small BiteBox or surprised an expectant father with baby news.

The NX-Food visual branding and website are developed by dombek—bolay and Albert Naasner, in close collaboration with the NX-Food team.
