Please introduce yourselves: What does your startup do?

GEWARA world lemonades are based on authentic recipes from the most beautiful regions of our planet. Moringa, kola nut, guava, coconut, turmeric, tamarind, maca, ginseng and many more natural plant extracts share their exotic flavor with GEWARA beverages.

How did you come up with an idea and concept? What inspired and motivated you to create this product?

Traveling around the world, we discovered unique flavors we never tried before. We came across centuries-old recipes during our adventures on the remote islands and decided to bring these forgotten treasures to Europe.

What is unique about your business idea and operating model?

The topic of adventure, exotics, lust for an outbreak from everyday life is surprisingly rarely used in the alcohol-free beverage segment. Other market segments — tobacco, alcoholic beverages, food, travel, fashion and gastronomy — have been doing this for decades.

GEWARA introduces this topic in a powerful, authentic and contemporary way. No matter where you are, at your office desk, or on a couch in front of a TV, GEWARA Adventure Company takes you on a culinary and cultural journey around the world.

What were the most significant difficulties you had to overcome while building your startup?

Developing a product line with exotic ingredients was an exciting challenge!

Where do you see yourselves and your company in 5 years?

We will continue the journey around the world and serve more unique tastes in the bottles. When it comes to business, we want to further expand our position in the craft lemonades sector.

What are your expectations from the NX-Food Startup Shelf Program?

Through the NX-Food program, we would like to stir up interest in our special lemonades in Austria. Three-month trial listing is a great door opener and a chance to reach a wide range of professional customers. Our goal is permanent placement in the METRO stores.

What are your main milestones and achievements?

  • 3rd place in the Drinkstarter 2018
  • Listings in German and Austrian retail stores
  • Three new flavors that we are about to launch
